The Ultimate AYLC Guide to Gear

Wondering what you need to play lacrosse? We’ve got you covered! Whether you’re an entry-level player or already part of our AYLC lax fam, check out the below requirements and suggestions.

Required lacrosse gear:

Boys:

• Men’s lacrosse stick – the String King Complete is a nice option for new youth players
• Helmet – must meet NOCSAE lacrosse standards, and SEI certified
• Shoulder pads – Pads must be NOCSAE compliant, and are different than football pads
• Arm pads – elbows should be completely covered
• Gloves
• Mouthguard – a visible color, not white or clear
• Protective cup
• Cleats – no metal spikes

Girls:

• Women’s lacrosse stick
• Goggles – must meet current ASTM standard for women’s lacrosse eyewear and be SEI certified.
• Optional: Women’s lacrosse helmet – must meet current ASTM standard for women’s headgear and be SEI certified. Some helmets have built-in protective eyewear, in which case a separate set of goggles is not necessary.
• Mouthguard – a visible color, not white or clear
• Cleats – no metal spikes

Where can I purchase my lacrosse gear?

As a beginner, our local Dick’s Sporting Goods stocks a few items. The websites below offer a large variety of brands and often have sales or promo codes.
