Ben Hunt, Auburn High Varsity Boy’s Lacrosse Head Coach Honored by USA Lacrosse

USA Lacrosse, the governing body of lacrosse in the United States, has named Auburn’s Ben Hunt as the recipient of the 2022 Gerald J. Carroll, Jr. Exemplary Coaching Award.

Hunt has served as the Auburn lacrosse varsity boy’s head coach on a voluntary basis since the founding of the program in 2010 and was also named the 2021 Coach of the Year in the state of Alabama.

The Gerald J. Carroll Award annually recognizes one high school boys’ coach nationwide.  The award acknowledges the success of a coach not only in victories, but in the care and guidance he gives to the development of young men who play the game.  Hunt was nominated by the Auburn Youth Lacrosse Club, the organizing body of lacrosse in Lee County, and the nomination was supported by recommendations by players and parents.

Hunt played the Attack position and was a team captain at Rochester Institute of Technology, where he finished his career as the all-time leading scorer and is the only player in the history of the program to be a four-time All-America selection.  Hunt resides in Auburn and is an engineer.
